Depriviation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) are a set of checks that are part of the Mental Capacity Act 2005.

The DoLS procedure protects a person receiving care whose liberty has been limited. 

During this session you will learn to:

• Define the Mental Capacity Act
• Understand the 5 key principles of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards
• Provide a basic description of the assessment process required for assessing both mental capacity and the authorisation for the deprivation of liberty
